The Long Run

Our day kicked off in the Okahandja Spur. If I ask my grand kids, "Where do you want to eat?"

They will scream, "The Spur!!!"

South Africa's greatest franchise, now all over the world. Toddler friendly and a family heaven. You eat in peace while the Spur look after them!

Off to Omaruru, an old oasis to our Uis mine in the Brandberg.

Now making wine instead of mining tin at the Kristall Kellerei and distilling all sorts of delightful things, even prickly pears!

Olga Kausch had us laughing all the way, with , "1...2...3...4...!"

Our great tour leaders taking a well deserved break while we wander around enjoying a unique experience.

Watch out!!

The German-Herero war ... General Lothar von Trotha invaded, 70 000 Hereros and 10000 Namas died brutally. Isolated Herero groups still in Limpopo today.

Despite sad bar stories, the war in Angola in the '80s was primarily due to it. ("The South African Defence Forces in the Border War 1966-1989". Leopoldt Scholtz)

Only last month, the Von Trotha offspring came here and apologized for the mass murders of their great grand dad ...

Omaruru, where they carve beauties out of wood blocks. No plan, no guidance, "It is all in my head!'

Relief in a great entertaining way!

On our way to Walvisbay via Karibib and Usakos.

To relax in the Protea with great friends and good wine.
